Quality and Environmental Management System
We acquired ISO 9001 certification, the international standard for quality management systems, and ISO 14001, the international standard for environmental management systems to improve our product quality and preserve the environment. In 1996, the catalyst department acquired ISO 9002 certification, and in 1998, all departments in the plant acquired ISO 9002 certification. Then, in 1999, ISO 9001 certification was also acquired.
We took steps to acquire ISO 14001 certification to strengthen and standardize our environmental management system in addition to our quality management, and in 1998, all departments in our plant obtained this certification.
Also, in 2003, JIS Q 9100 certification, which is a quality system standard for the aerospace industry, was acquired for titanium sponge. We will continue to strengthen our quality management system and environmental management system.
Quality Assurance — Commitment to the Highest Standards
We put a priority on always ensuring the products we supply to our customers can be used with the utmost confidence. As a global company, we are committed to this ideal, and have established a quality management system that satisfies global standards. We have acquired ISO 9001 certification, which certifies that the design, development, production and sale of all Toho Titanium products comply with this international standard. In the case of titanium sponge, we acquired JIS Q 9100 (AS/EN/SJAC 9100) certification, which means that we comply with the stringent product quality system standards of the aerospace industry — another symbol of our promise of high and consistent quality.
Environmental Management — Earth Friendly First
The life of titanium products is long, and the material can be recycled. When we examine titanium's impact on the global environment at every product life stage from production and utilization to scrapping in LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) studies, titanium is clearly a very environmentally friendly product. Toho Titanium has established an environmental management system that is principally modeled on ISO 14001 as a part of our ongoing efforts to reinforce our preservation of the global environment and regional safety , and to ensure the effective utilization of this valuable resource, we are aggressively promoting titanium recycling.
