To Our Shareholders

We would like to report on an outline of the business of our Group during the 79th term.

As the titanium demands greatly decreased for both the aerospace market and the industrial market, our titanium business reduced its earnings, declaring deficit balance.
On the other hand, our catalyst and chemical business got higher earnings on higher revenues, mainly due to recovery of demands for electronic industry.
As a result, disappointingly, our business achievement for this term was as follows: The sales were \21.691 billion, decreased by 47.1% from the previous term, the operating loss was \1.553 billion, the pretax loss was 2.174 billion, and the net loss for this term was \2.648 billion after the reversal of deferred tax asset.

The titanium industry is still undergoing an adjusting phase, which is tougher when compared with other material industries. At the end of last year, however, the Boeing Company had a successful first test flight of Boeing 787 and favorably carried out the following series of tests. In addition, China and some other countries have recovered their steel demands, resulting in a gradual increase in the demands of sponge titanium for steel additives. Therefore, the titanium market seems to have bottomed out at last.

Meantime, our Wakamatsu Factory commenced commercial operation in April 2010 as scheduled. By this, we will try to be the "world top producer that leads the growth of titanium to a more major metal."

We would like the shareholders to keep supporting and guiding us as before.
